Fang’s 2nd Ampuversary

Hello everyone. Today was Fang’s 2 year ampuversary.

As always, we celebrated with treats poked into yummy food, sprinkled with cat nip seasoning and playtime a new cat-nip filled toy. We had a lot of fun playing about until we were cat-nip-drunk enough to lay around oggling the ceiling for a while. As always, mommy couldn’t take pictures and play at the same time, so oggling drunken kitty photos it is! 😛

I’d just like to thank the Tripawds community yet again for all of the support you’ve given us over the years – especially when we were going through the difficult decision making process with Fang’s amputation, and with his recovery. This happy, energetic boy would likely not be around today without your inspiring stories to help us recognize that he would thrive after his amputation. Keep doing what you do – it really does make a difference. =)

  1. TWO years? Oh my gosh Fang, you make time fly so quickly! Look at how pawesome you’re doing!!! Congrats gorgeous, you so earned that big pawty. And we’ll continue it on over here too, your milestone is a BIG reason to celebrate!

Chantal, we cannot begin to thank YOU for making a difference here. I’m not sure you even realize how much more “cat friendly” this community has become because you made the courageous leap of faith to start this blog and jump into the Forums. Until then we were clueless about feline amputation and recovery, but now thanks to you and this wonderful blog and of course Fang, we are able to offer so much more to all of our feline friends out there who need hope and inspawration just as much as our dog pawrents do.

Still can’t believe it’s been two years but it’s been such a pleasure to watch how Fang has bounced back and gone on to live life to the fullest. Thank you so much for everything!

  2. So glad to find your page here and will be reading more of the story as I have time. We are probably going to have to amputate our Duncan’s left front leg in the next few months–have already spent way too much $$ on a painful joint swelling that just won’t heal. A horrible decision–sounds so selfish. So GOOD to see how Fang has adjusted.

  3. thank you so much for sharing your and fang’s story. one of our kitties was just diagnosed with myxosarcoma on his front right arm. there are options, but the best one for his overall health is amputation. all of your advice and information is so helpful, and it’s wonderful to see fang so happy and healthy.

  4. Thank you guys very much for your congratulations. We really appreciate it! 🙂

Jerry – you’re too kind. Thank you guys so much for opening your arms to us tri-kitty families, and for offering the support, kindness, warmth, and love to those of us going through such a difficult decision. I am so glad to see the new kitty Tripawd members flowing in, sharing stories and improving even further the sense of community we all share at Tripawds.

Mary and Jennifer – I know what a difficult decision you guys are facing. Just remember that you love your furbabies, and so you will make the right decision for them, whatever that may be. It’s not selfish, it’s not mean – it’s exactly right. Otherwise, you guys wouldn’t be online looking up information on the best options for your babies!

Let me know how things go with them! You might also think about joining the Tripawds forums to share your experience with each other and other tripod families that have been through it. Talking always helps! <3

  5. I’m so glad I found this blog! Our Persian kitty Penelope was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor I’m her front left leg. Our only option to cure her was amputation She just had the amputation done yesterday and she is doing ok. Finding your blog a few days ago really gave me confidence that we are doing the right thing for her and that she is going to be fine. Thank you!

  6. HAPPY TWO YEAR AMPUVERSARY FANG!!!!!!! We have no words, no words at ALL, to express how much we owe you. You are the kitty that brought us (and kept us) here. If it werent for you, I would have been totally scared out of my mind to proceed with Jill’s amputation and would never have made my first post on tripawds.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Celebrate BIG, you deserve it!
    xoxoxo always,
    Erica & Jill

  7. I’m so happy I found Fangs story! I just found out yesterday that my oscar will eventually need his back left leg amputated. He has a non cancerous tumor in his muscle. That if it continues to grow and not allow him to walk with ease amputation is our only option. I was devastated! But ready fangs story gave me hope that cats can function with 3 limbs! Thank you so much for sharing his story!

  8. I just found your website. someone shot my cat Koko 5 weeks ago. He was hit just above the elbow on his left front leg. It shattered the bone and left lots of shrapnal in the leg. Everyone said to amputate. but we put a splint on the leg in hopes that it would mend. Unfortunately, Friday the vet said that it wasn’t growing together and he advised to amputate. I have been so torn as what to do. I saw how well Fang is doing and I’m sure now that it will be the right decision. Even though he will only have 3 legs, it will be a more quality life. Thank you so much!!

  9. Just want to say thank you again so much for sharing Fang’s story. Making the decision to amputate our Duncan’s left front leg was SO hard, but seeing how well Fang has done gave us the hope we needed.
Surgery was done 12/13, he got his stitches out 12/23. He is doing GREAT! Almost completely his old self. Even after reading Fang’s story, we’re still amazed at how well he’s doing.
    Thank you, thank you!

  10. Thank you for sharing your story! Our kitty Oscar had his front left leg amputated one week ago (he has a blog now too 🙂 and it’s good to hear about another kitty who prefers to be outside. Oscar is doing tremendously well and we’re glad to have found the Tripawds community!
